i thought there was no money in sales only gigs, stops me from signing.
 
I don't really understand how they are so popular yet their soundcloud has like no followers etc..
 
true, but don't sales, and having a resumé of original tracks picked up by labels help get those gigs, or help get bigger gigs?
 
Getting tracks out there is cool... Might sketch up a few hundred (or even a few thousand) for your track. Much better than nothing or crappy $35 single beat license. Now there are so many labels it's loads easier too. Great for flyer promotion listing signed labels also. ;)
