Blogs that take music/content submissions often have info on their site on how to submit content. If they only have an email, take a look at the content posted to figure out what is needed.

Usually you should send them
- brief info about you and the project (no huge press kits).
- if it is an album or a single, an album cover image that is big enough for their posts. Otherwise a press photo.
- an mp3 file or two. This one is usually up to writers/blogs preference, a lot of blogs love Bandcamp due to the ease of embedding it to the posts, some request for attached mp3 files.

You don't expect them to write them back. At least the bigger blogs get tons of email.. Some writers send a reply with a link to the blog post, some post it without notifying you.

And then to the obvious: Don't spam them.

Here are some tips on what I've seen work well.

- Find bloggers that you feel you and your brand / music are compatible with. Just a hand full, don't go overboard, otherwise you'll end up just spamming.
- Start a relationship and become friends with the blogger. Reply to their blog posts. Start a dialog through email. (Just with any relationship, this will take time)
- After you have established a relationship, which will require a few interactions, you can then start working closer with the blogger.
- If you have a show, offer to put the blogger on the guest list.
- Offer to write a blog post for the blog that is not about you but about something relevant to the blog's core topics.
- Send the blogger some of your music with out expecting anything.
- Rinse, Repeat.

Good luck.
