Man, I really like your music. It would disappoint me greatly to lose your entries from future competitions because of an over looked technicality and human limitations. This is how I mean...

There are tons of different reasons as why people for for the people they vote for. The top competitors where obvious because they received votes period. I spent my own time and energy promoting this competition to my followers who are interested in receiving such information: clothing lines, venue owners, dj's, record labels, writers, etc. I did this and I'm not even competing in the battle. These are also the people who help me promote this battle.

This competition was viewed by 3700+ people and gained 101 votes with light social media promo. I don't have a way of seeing who voted because the information is anonymous, and even if wasn't, I don't have time to go back an ask why people voted for who they did, right now. And creating fraud accounts only insures the losers place in this battle. It's technically slower to create a fake email address, create a fake FP membership, and register a fake vote than it is to read a forum post, respond to someone, and ask for a vote. Producers who fail to engage people with their music, don't earn the respect of voters. Some people vote for the those who ask them to.

WTF am I supposed to do about that?

I want indie hip hop artist and producers to achieve the success they seek and the only I know to get evolved by watching their promotional efforts. And besides, I thought you had this one man... The last thing I expected was for BRONXSTA to put in gangsta a*s internet promo hours within the forum, his track is good too. I almost vote for it over yours. The reason I voted for yours instead was because of the sample you chose. Great choice man!

Bronxsta, you did what you're supposed to do. I know for a fact that artist and song writers want to work with people who promote and gain feedback from others. The connections we make in the music world are vital and require constant maintenance to stay relevant. I know, for a fact, that artists and writer prefer to work with producers who are active. This competitions was created for the hobbyist...

I'll put together a new voting structure to determine the winner of this month's competition. And I like the idea of raising post requirements for battle entries... Do you or anyone else have any other suggestions? Many of my followers and I are looking for talented producers and recording artists, let us know something.
 
well i wouldnt want to drop out, This beat battle you got going on is a great idea man, what you're doing is amazing, but for example go read SalvatoreAPZ's post and he too his dropping out because of the voting system, one of the ideas I had for a better voting system would not use a poll and rather have ppl actually type who they voting for that way you can see their amount of posts, I dont really understand why ppl who arent even part of the forums should be voting just because hes friends with the guy or family well its pretty obvious they are going to vote for certain ppl because they know them regardless of the beat, I really wanna be part of this beat battle I already got a beat man so tell me what you think ProducerJC

Thanks for continuing to compete. My friends and I look to work with proactive musicians and music makers. I'll put together a new voting system for this month's competition to level the playing field more. Remember, online promo is also part of the game; however, rest assured, whack tracks will not be allowed to win Battle 4 Exposure. In the end, great music will prosper. This is a competition for producers and artist who are serious about getting to the masses and are willing to do their part to make that happen.

Thanks for your suggestion, I'll incorporate it into the new voting system.

Sooo... it looks like the voting system might be changed... once I see final rules and set up ill decide if I'm back in... I wan comment on the previous post but... I'm still drunk so maybe later...
 
I'm in. I told JC I would enter this month even though I'm not really into online competitions because of controversies like BRONXSTA's. There's always gonna be people questioning the winner with these online voting systems even if it looks legit. BRONXSTA hit my thread Medicine Man Beat Video #5 last week and asked for a vote. I told him I would give every submission a chance before I vote, but ultimately voted his 'cuz I felt his was more complete overall with RiseFromTheAshez as my second favorite. There's really no way to tell if online votes are legit or not (there will be people making fake accounts), but the only reason I'm entering is for exposure. I'm only going to hit up threads here in FP, as I will feel more rewarded getting votes from my own peers rather than getting votes from friends & family who really won't give any of these producers a chance, even if the beat they submitted is better than mine they won't know 'cuz they'll vote for me, leave and never come back. Not everyone here in FP is going to enter the battle, so that's where my votes will come from if they feel my beat is the best out of all the other entries. I'm a strong believer in the honor system, but that doesn't mean everyone is. So whether I win or lose, as long as you heard my music and the people you guys/girls bring to vote for your music might hear my stuff too....It's a win/win situation for me. So for my submission, I had my boy film me making a beat today (fresh out the kitchen). I'm writing this as the video is exporting, so probably another hour or two and my entry will be up. It will be in a thread of it's own in the Tutorials, Gear Reviews & Beatmaking Videos! section like all my other videos. Like I said about the honor system....I am a strong believer in it, and in that threads description I will ask FP members to visit the battle and vote for their favorite "beat" (not mine). Hopefully they vote for me but I know there's producers here that got crazy instrumentals. So with that said....

This is a sticky situation because really JC and ashes both have valid points, the competition ultimately is about the music, not who can market thier music better, and even though part of the game INCLUDES promoting your music, I think the promotive aspect has the potnential to overpower the musical aspect itself, which is a bad thing.

perhaps this is out of the admins hands as well with the current set up. Do know though in the end EVERYONE is getting listened too and heard, and if there IS REAL TALENT present, then there is no choice but to be acknowledged for your work.

The voting system will be determined once I'm able to see the number of entries we're working with. All I can tell you for now is the voting system will restricted to FP members, include the ability to rank quality, and bonus votes. The details are being discussed as I respond to the post though. You can enter this one or wait until March, it's up to you. I'm not sure what the prizes will be at that time, just fyi.

You need to reach 20 post before entering your track if you're a new member... It can be done in less than a day if you try.

You don't need to spam peoples post, all you need to do is have an opinion and share it. Go to the feedback section an respond to other peoples music. I'm sure you'll find 20 songs to leave feedback on. You can also explore the different topics and discussions in this forum. IMO, you can't get others involved if you're not involved yourself.
