In reply to Rome's idea...If they let us do that up here, I'd be a totally different person. I was that person the 1st week I was ever up here, got a warning from Carnage I think it was and realized you can't just say what you want on FP. Years later I'm modding the site, go figure.

I saw the threads of Troup griping about getting major placements, and I dont understand why he's not trying to get indie placements or lowkey artists. It seems you're trying to skip right to majors.
I dont even see him posting up many songs he's produced recently.
Coop is a teenager and he stays in the presence of famous producers, so Troup, wth are you doing man??
Even Johnny Juliano produced for Wiz Khalifa while he was independent, and Khalifa is now major. You gotta work from the bottom up.

If I'm being honest I think this thread is actually the most relevant thread in all of future producers because of the real underlying topic...
New Music Business. How it works, how it doesn't work and how to make it better.
I've been around this website for years and have been reading posts long before I ever made my first post. I've seen countless cycles of different business ideas and models.
Of them all, I would have to admit I was most excited about Troup's Industry Sound. Here is the issue...
I think the point some people were making was that there was indeed a lot of hype around this website, no matter what Troup actually had planned for it.
As of right now (over a year later?) the site really hasn't developed into what I personally would have liked to have seen.
I think a lot of people feel this way.
The web is a tricky thing...it all really boils down to the user's experience. With that said...I don't think there is anyone here that can honestly say that the industrysound experience is anything more than a personally soundclick page with videos (ustream).
There really shouldn't be an issue for that being the case. But there is because there really are people here trying to figure out the music revolution that we are living in and how it relates to business...
Troup is hinting that this website really is more than what we see it for and I completely believe that is true...the problem is we don't see it from a consumer's perspective...
Now you can say the site isn't meant for selling music or whatever, the problem is that is what it looks like. And because that is what it looks AND feels like, that is how the site is going to be judge.
This is why so many are asking about your income, which I personally think is wrong, but it is obvious why.
At the end of the day, I am a fellow music entrepreneur, so I know how frustrating it can be to have people constantly asking you what it is you're doing, what your next move is and why etc. Especially when you know if you were to tell them where you're taking everything they wouldn't understand because they were never explained the entire process to get there.
I'm glad IS is getting you toward your business goals if it is. But I have to be honest I'd say I was probably expecting your website to start off as whatever you are still in the process of doing.
I hope you don't take any offense to that and can respect my perspective because like I said...I'm doing the same thing brotha and have been looking at the same scenarios you've been and have been trying to figure out how to improve my business. I've developed some ideas that will hopefully change how successful artists make a living along with adding on to what has already been done.
I hope to see something like that from everyone in this business, including troup, in the future. I'm 110% confident I'm delivering.
And also, I feel you on the not talking and just showing. The people I have told parts of my business plan have called me insane and genius at the same time, but at the end of the day I know they still don't even see what I'm talking about and won't until I show them everything.
