What Equipment Should I Get For My Type of Music?

Hey Guys.Just was wondering if I could get some help from you Production Gurus out There.I Know How To Make Beats On A Laptop,(I Have Been For 2 Years),But I Want to Actually Get Equipment For My Production.I Just Find Making Music on The Laptop Way Too Frustrating,and Thought I Could Use Some Equipment.The Music I Wanna Make Is Hip-Hop,Rock Type Music,and Ive been using Acid Pro 7 and FL studio 9 and 10 recently.What would be most basic equipment needed to help me get started?

You dont really need anything except for a MIDI Keyboard, it makes things easier sometimes, making music on a laptop and a real PC how does it differ?

HIpHop and Rock is far from each other... I guess you have to record real instruments to make ReAL ROCK.
