Recording Yamaha DX7 with Ableton Live?

I've managed to set up my Yamaha DX7 so that playing the keyboard creates notes in Ableton, but I can't figure out how to actually get the sounds from the DX7 onto the computer and record them. Can anyone give me a sort of tutorial on how to do that?

you need to plug the DX7 into your audio ins on your interface not just the MIDI connectors

Audio out ----> Audio in.

that is yuor daw and your computer type but what is your audio interface????

I think I might understand my problem actually... I have a MIDI USB cable hooked up between the computer and the keyboard, but do I ALSO need an audio interface box to go with it?

You could use a 1/8 to 1/4 cable in the mean time.
