I just finished up this sample-based track and am definitely interested in hearing any feedback and/or constructive criticism.

ALL FEEDBACK IS RETURNED.

Thanks.

Great transitions, love the way you chopped the vocals and the horns. Snare and drums were on point to. I would try maybe adding another cymbal or something in the background with a lot of reverb to fill some more of the space, but that's just me. Maybe try adding some light piano in the background as well, see how that works. Sounds good either way tho, keep up the good work.
Check out my track when you get some time, thanks. https://www.futureproducers.com/for...-etc/new-full-track-breathe-grizz-f4f-506339/

Real smooth my man. I liked how you reversed the sample for the intro, that's something I've been meaning to do for one of my beats. The sample is beautiful, very harmonic and soulful. I also enjoyed the drum sequence you used, it fit the sample very well. My only complaint is that there's not a lot of low end on this. But aside that this was great, keep it up!

wow, this reminds me of the song from Ms. Mary J... Excellent drop, makes me want to write a 16, so bad... )

This is a bangin beat my man I love the transitions, very refreshing an the intro was tight. The fireworks at the end are smile worthy hahaha!
Keep up the good work my man, my piece of advice is to experiment with new drum sounds cuz you got it, time to Lewis & Clark!

Thanks for all the feedback and advice.

JayProd, good look on peeping that intro. I tried a lot to get some low end into the mix. I actually turned it down because the 808s and sub-line was washing everything else out of the mix at first.

TheArciDiavolo thanks and I'm glad you noticed that (fireworks). It's just a subtle element that I wanted to evoke a certain mood at the track's end.

grizzlymusic I appreciate the props. The vocals are obviously samples, but the trumpets aren't. I just sequenced them on top of the sample. I experimented with some keys in the track, but winded up opting for a synth in some parts and just dropping the keys. I didn't want to OVER-produce it.

The intro was a great start, it sort of just brings you into the song.
The triangle was a great and possibly needed addition to the snare.
That sample you used gave it that authentic, however It's difficult to hear over the percussion so try boosting the vocal sample just a tiny bit.
Transition from 1:40-1:44 felt rather choppy soo, here are some suggestions:
- try humanizing the kick & snare there a bit to make it more bouncy, and/OR
- drop the kick volume and/OR
- temporarily filter out some over-powerful sidechain causing frequencies in the kicks during that transition.

Overall it's a fairly decent instrumental, well done.

Love the sample man especially as it flows through the track.. Also the transition in the middle is super dope to me. The horns also fit the track perfectly to me, unless that was part of the sample. Thanks for the feedback too, I followed you.

Hi,
I like all the small variations and breaks (nice at 1:41 :)) that keep our ear very interested.

Listening to headphones, my problem is the snare which seems too loud compared to everything else. To be honest I am not too fan of the mix itself, but no doubt this track is entertaining, with suprises everywhere, even in the last seconds :)

Well done!
