To be honest I really don't think there's much "missing" at all but I do understand your dilemma. All I can suggest is
1) The vocal sample from Cheryl Lynn's "Encore" as used by Meat Beat Manifesto in "Radio Babylon" ( a sniff of familiarity is a real rush)
2) Sharpening up that bass synth that kicks in at !.40 ( a good example is the "Eye Left My Wallet In Brixton Kentucky" Mix of Death Of The Kamikazee" by Genaside II
3) Dropping everything elae entirely out of the mix for a few bars at 1.40 except the bass synth and the percussion
4) Or just building up to the drop at 1.40 for a few more bars with everything layering out to silence broken by that rude bwoy vocal sample before it all kicks in.
Something to chew on, but bottom line is it's a really good track that reminds me a bot of "Get A Life" by the Freestylers.
