Just from a quick listen to the Kesha track. When the chorus hits, there's a lot more instruments than there was in the verse, A LOT more, so maybe it's that all of the frequency range is being filled in comparison to the verse.
A lot of reverb on the drums and the pad gives a great sense of scale, and the underlying bass really gives the chorus some punch. I'd really love to know more about what actually gives it the sense of power. Right now I'm just guessing based on my moderate level of experience
