Are Studio Monitors A Necessity???

I own a pair of studio headphones (Shure 440). I just use those for most of my music projects. Do I really need to buy a pair of studio monitors? What are the benefits of owning a pair in comparison to just using studio headphones? What are your thoughts?

If you're planning to buy some monitors you should think first on acoustic issues... having monitors without proper acoustic treatment... just stay on with headphones! Building a house starting on the roof was never a good choice!

They will only let you hear your mix properly. I did quite well without them but since I got monitors and decent acoustic treatment my mix quality has skyrocketed.

ur mixes will sound terribly bad on other devices..so consider treating ur room before buying monitors
