I understand what people are saying about the kick drum. I agree, but only a little bit. The kick in something like this doesn't need to slam through the mix.

I thought this was super soulful, I'm really happy that someone that genuinely appreciates this style is keeping this movement going man. I fuck with this beat heavy. I thought the chops were dope, excellent sample choice, snare was too ill. Great, great vibe.

I don't know your process on mixing your drums. Do you route your kick and snare to a bus, then compress and add distortion or what? If not, you could try that, but only if you WANT that kick to pop through. I personally fuck with this beat exactly as is.

This is dope. I think the 808 bass could be more distorted so I feel it more. Other than that melodies and percussion on point. Nice work

Thanks for the reply on my thread man, just now getting back to this! You captured that old school vibe so well, I don't think you need to change much more with this track. Normally I like some variation in the melody but what you have is catchy & the mc will handle the rest. Well done!
