What macbook pro?

Hi

I would like a buy a macbook pro for my son for music production. Is there any specific model I should be looking at or is it simply down to budget?
I have been looking at 2nd hand models, are there any older versions of the pro's that I should consider?

Any MacPro post 2013 really.

Make sure it has at least an i7 Quad Core and 16GB of Ram for production

Yes, I think those parameters will be enough! It's better to have a discrete video card as well.

You should also only take a MacBook with an SSD installed.

I agree, now there is no point in taking a device with more than 16 gb RAM.
