simple beats

what songs can you name off the top of your head that dont involve crazy chord structures or anything? just simple beats that almost anyone coulda made...of course with a good mix. Amilli, Beemer, Benz, Bentley, etc...simple beats but catchy?

I cant play chords well yet and though im trying, I like to get motivated by producers who kept it simple yet still made a dope beat
 
most popular music of atleast the last 40 years or so is mad simple. Dont over think or over complicate things. The cats who usually try to over complicate the music are usually the cats whos music doesnt work. Atleast for hip hop.
 
More is always better if your instruments blend theorotically. The hardest thing for most people is getting their instruments to fit in the mix or creating proper melodies around their chord progressions.
 
You don't really need to play chords... you have to get inspired...
The theory is like an instruction book... If you can't read, doesn't mean you can't speak.

Most rap tracks are not really chordy... For RnB, it would be something else because people are mostly using such instruments as piano and guitars and might be required to make a record on spot...

But all in all, in these days of "non-liveness" of the recording, the theory can be left as a big bonus.

I'm the worst at simple beats. My mind goes to major/minor 9's by default. I can pull off some wannabe B. Cox before I could do Nitti.

I think a more recent example would be Bedrock. It has chords, but the progression is very simple....that what makes it very hot. Something else... Me and You - Cassie. Of course, Soulja Boy - Crank Dat, Jay-Z On to the Next One. There's alot...
 
That new LLoyd Banks - Beamer, Benz and Bentley is mad simple but its bangin tho.

Just about every artist you had up there had two or three better songs using chords if not more. And my point wasn't that music can't be good without chords. Just simply what's music without chords? THINK!!!
