recording in edison

I want to be able to record into edison whilst using FL's FX and I want to monitor the fx in use before recording into edison can't seem to get this working can anyone help tried following the mannual but that didnt help can anyone help please.
 
1. Load effect into top slot

2. Play with effect to get the sound you want

3. Load Edison into next slot

4. Press Record

5. Play
 
Cheers for replying but ive tried it and I cant hear any change from the fx basically I have on my master and another channel my soundcard as the input and none as the output and load up paramatic eq 2 in slot 1 then slot 2 for edison then I play a song from itunes which is showing the input going into flstudio and I try and take off the bass in the EQ 2 but cant hear any difference. the sounds even show up in the paramatic EQ 2 but just doesnt seem to make a difference could it be something in my settings?

BTW it does take effect after ive recorded but I want to hear the effect of the EQ before I record it into edison so i know what to tamper with.
 
Hmm that is strange it is not working for you. I have never had a problem like this. Try placing Edison on the Master channel and see if that helps. Make sure the little green light next to the eq is turned on as well and the effect volume knob next to it is turned up.
