Hey guys,

The title already says it: "Is mixing board battery leak dangerous?". I have a Allen & Heath ML4000 mixing board. The manufacturer told me that they don't cover battery leakage, which is the case with mine. The mixing board still lights up, however, it now turned into a cool looking furniture on my desk, nothing more nothing less lol. Which I'm okay with for now, until I save up for a new one (might take a while). However, I was wondering if I turn the mixing board on while it has battery leakage, does the acid do any harm to the human body? Might seem like a weird question, but I was wondering if this might release some toxic stuff in the air or something? I don't want to risk any health issues but at the same time, I don't want to get rid of it since it has some sentimental value.

Or am I just over exaggerating? :P Thanks!

You should never touch battery acid...It's acid. Even worse if you get that into your bloodstream it can cause many problems. When it touches your skin it can get very itchy, change color, rash, and other forms of irritation.

Now that's out of the way...Put on some rubber gloves and clean that acid up. A acid leak won't keep the board in good shape. It will only ruin the board in the long run. Eventually it will corrode turn white/brown and stop the components on the chip from working. If it has sentimental value or you plan to sell it, at least let it be in working condition.

The battery leakage is on the inside of the board, probably in a separate compartment where it cannot leak out. However, it does make the board unusable. But still, I am wondering if the acid air might be toxic, especially considering the facts that I have my board in a fairly small studio room.
