K karki New member Feb 16, 2022 #1 the song is hurt me by lapsley. is it just the 808 or does it have a kick too?
prodbyedren New member Jan 12, 2024 #2 i could be wrong but it sounds like a soft 808, don't really hear a punchy kick. It almost sounds modified to almost sound like a tom drum because it sounds like it has some reverb on it. Could be wrong tho

The shortness/punchiness of the 808 and the 808 naturally been used by itself for decades now. I was definitely surprised everytime I've been in the studio with a big producer and they don't even use a kick just an 808
