EQ'ing vocals is just the worst. I've been in the industry for more than 10 years. I've worked with Gucci Mane, Rittz, Jelly Roll, Yo Gotti, and other artists. I'm not bragging - just portraying the fact that, even with more than a decade of experience, I STILL hate to EQ vocals.
However, I've perfected an EQ process that has helped quite a few engineers that I've worked with in the past. I made a YouTube video to show others how to do this, which is what the link below is.
LINK: EQ'ing Hip-Hop Vocals: An Essential Guide
If you're interested in learning the fairly simple process, feel free to take a look (a peek, a gander, if you will lol).
I'd also love to get some feedback on the video itself. Even if it's negative, I need to hear it to get better.
If you have any vocal EQ "go-to" tips and tricks, please post them so we can all get better.
Thanks in advance, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
