How do you lay them down , how do you get them to knock? Can you get 808s in Reason to sound like the ones I hear from FL cuz they sound different to me...
First off, props to mogrizzly for that video...some good insight on getting some fat ass drum sounds
But to answer the question, I always had trouble getting my 808s to sound fat, especially when you tried to play them at different pitches on the keyboard as you would with FL. So now instead of using an 808, I just use a nice fat drum sound and pair it up with a sine bass with the release turned up a bit. Every time the drum hits, I'll play a bass note as see fit and it'll sound identical to an 808. Most big producers, Lex Luger included, use this technique as opposed to 808s since the sound quality is just that much better. I recommend using the Subtractor preset ResonBass to start, thats one I often use. Go to the AMP ENVELOPE part of the Synth, and crank the "R" up to around 60 and do what you need to do musically from there.
hey to tell you there are many way to get it right 1 sound source 2 Eq 3 Compression 4 ADSR 5 if you have reason 5 & Record the SSL strip has to many options and routing your sounds right with stacking your sounds will make this very easy and all you have to do is use some of these tools to trim it to your liking and use the subtractor to add the lower end if you don't have the sound source i love to rout the subtractor to a channel strip and have it hit with may kick that is layered and use a limiter & compression and EQ also try using The Scream with no distortion just use the settings to mold the sound there are really too many ways to get it to boom like you want I make patches to get that sound quick on the fly and just edit to my liking on the new session I hope this helps!!!!!
