Good monitors or not?

New to the site learning great info but need to know are these good monitors for a small home studio? M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 Powered Reference Speaker System – pair

These are decent "multimedia" speakers. Not reference quality or suitable for mixing. However, if your room isn't treated, it doesn't really matter what monitors you get.
