TUTORIAL: Learning Scales & Chords

Wow! Very good information. Can anyone recommend a good music book that list all the scales and actually show the letters in that scale instead of showing just the staff with the notes?

I love the A minor scale, so simple.

Also keep in mind that the major scales allways follows the same pattern of half tone steps". (A half-tone step on a guitar is the next fret. On a piano its the next tangent)

Pattern for any major scale is (in # of halftone steps):
2,2,1,2,2,2,1

Meaning if you put your finger on the C tangent on a piano and want to play the C major scale, you play the
C then go two halfsteps up to a
D then go two halfsteps up to an
E then one halfstep to a
F then go two halfsteps up to a
G then go two halfsteps up to a
A then go two halfsteps up to a
B and 1 halfstep to
C wich concludes the C major scale

This can be repeated from ANY tangent and any note on a piano or guitar and when you grasp this for any scale you are one step further in understanding and playing any scale.

As mentioned earlier The root version of the Major Chord consist of The 1st, 3rd and 5th note in the scale and that way you should - right now - be able to i.e. play a Eb major chord:
The Eb scale is Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb, C, D, Eb and the 1st, 3rd and 5th are highlighted in Bold to the left.

Sorry if this is mentioned allready in the thread.

Best of luck
