Tuning 808s

Hello,

I know the method of tuning 808s in FL studio, where you check key and then whatever the key you then put the piano key on the sample to that key, but what about if the 808 sample has the key in its name? Do you still need to load the sample and change the main piano note to the keys note?? Also do you tune the 808 to the 5th octive or lower/higher?

^Yup. If the sample has the key in its name, then you already know the key and don't have to find it out. Doesn't really change anything.

Also do you tune the 808 to the 5th octive or lower/higher?

Just listen man, there's no rule such as which octave your 808s have to be in.

For example ;
You take a 808 sample, play G-5, sounds great.
But when you play the same sample in C-5 you won't hear a thing..

Just keep trying every octave untill it sounds right for you.

Even if the 808 has the key in its name, it doesn’t mean that FL studio can always detect that it is in that key.

You should still tune the 808.

e.g. if you want the sampler to play a "C" note when you press a "C" key than you need to tell the sampler what the root key is. If not, the keys that you press and what the sampler plays will not match, e.g. if the 808 is tuned to "D" but your sampler still thinks the root key is "C", when you press a "D" key it will play an "E" note but when you tell the sampler that the root is "D", when you press a "D" key, a "D" note will be played.
