Trying to imitate a certain sound for a short film, but don't know where to start

I am early in the development of a script, but I already have a mindset for how I would like the soundtrack to sound (it's actually what inspired the tone of the short). However, I have limited experience in music production and I don't know the words for what I am looking for. Here are some examples to start:

I love the intense despair found in the low synth sounds and I think they would perfectly reflect the status of my main character.

Basically, I need any possible information about two things:

  • What this type of sound is called - I want to be able to find more examples to draw inspiration from
  • How some of the sounds are accomplished - I know this is a bit vague, but any information regarding names for specific sounds common of the genre and how they might be replicated would be appreciated
