Just started making R&B beats today (literally)

Did a quick beatmaking video I値l post in a second but first was trying to get some tips cause whatever type of beats I Make I知 almost always going to give it somewhat of a trap feel, fusion, etc. That痴 just me.

How do you guys make authentic R&B drum patterns?

How do you create dope melodies/counter-melodies?

I致e read alot of threads and I知 listening to what would be considered contemporary R&B. In need of some type of guidance/advice/feedback as far as like what type of sounds and patterns... Drumkits? VSTs? Characteristics?

Damn near anything would help right now...

Anyways here痴 one of the beats...

The first step is listening to contemporary R&B/soul. Study Babyface, Darryl Simmons, Rico Love, Demonte Posey, etc. and these are some of my inspirations.
