Hi guys, i like a lot last album by JT 20/20 Experience, John Legend and etc. So i wanna try to make something in this style, but i don't have enough theory knowledge to make this. Especially for neo-soul, i only know about this that i must used 9-th 11-th chords. Do i need to use a natural minor/major scale or maybe something different? Any tips?

1st one is using Am7-Dm7-Em7-Fmaj7-Em7 - alternate usage in the verse is Am7-Fmaj7-Am7, then Dm7-Em7-Fmaj7-Em7 for the chorus

will review the others when I get back

So, there is no big difference between neo-soul and R&B? Do i need to use just a natural minor/major scales and 7th (9th) chords?
