The Purpose Of These In Rap/Hip-Hop

Hi I ask if anyone that's kind enough can tell me the purpose of these rap/hip-hop. Whats the purpose of the kick drum, snare, clap, and 808s. Also why do we have hi hat rolls?

hi hat rolls are basically what makes trap...trap. I think most will agree that the kick is the backbone of hip hop and the snare and clap provide the backbeat. Like the beastie boys said: nothing sounds quite like an 808.
