As far as I'm aware, this is possible in principle (didn't John Chowning patent and sell FM to Yamaha) but is it likely in practice?
I've been working on my own interesting idea for a soft synth on and off for a few years - it's a bit buggy, hacky and the UI is very basic but it works well enough to demonstrate the concept. It's safe to say I'm out of my depth when it comes to writing a proper, commercial standard, efficient app though and don't know what to do.
I was thinking of perhaps hiring someone (or at least finding a collaborator) with real credentials in C++ and software engineering, or maybe just patenting and selling the idea (if anyone out there would be willing to buy it).
Sorry if this is the wrong folder for this thread - perhaps there should be one for coding instruments and effects.
