Notes & Melodies

Hello Everyone,

my biggest problem with making beats, is the point where i need to find matching melodies for different instruments. So If I start a beat, and I make for e.g. the Pluck Melody and I'm quite happy with it. But for the next step, I maybe want to to a Lead melody, but for me it's hard to find matching melodies or melodies that don't sound too overloaded.

Do you know a good tutorial video for this problem? And how do YOU start making beats? Do you pick a scale before you start or you just go with and find out which scale it is in?

What are some tricks to not overdo the different melodies?

Thanks in advance Fam!

If you want to add different sounds but it's getting too cluttered you could trying taking your original melody and assigning half of it to one sound (like the pluck) and the other half of it to another sound (like the lead). That way it's not too overloaded in notes but it plays out kinda like a call and response between the two instruments... won't work all the time but it might help avoid clutter every once in a while.
