melody with lead synth help

whats up fp i came to the boards to ask for help with my lead synth melodies i can make good riffs and melodies with plucked sounds brass synths piano etc etc but everytime i try to do my lead melody with the anykind of lead synth it just seems like its just wondering and never sounds goods idk can anybody help its only the leads i just cant get right

you might need to consider whether you are creating shapeless melodies or simple scale runs first

some analysis I did with my 9th grades 16 years ago, indicates that most pop music melodies have the following characteristics:

Direction and size	%	stay on the same note	45%	move up or down by step	25%	move up or down by skip	25%	move up or down by large leap	5%

skip = minor or major 3rd
large leap = 4th up to octave
