I am new to music and want to know if I should buy samples or make them?

Just a simple question cause I am still practising and making samples of my own should I grab some to work with for now?

I already have a couple of sample packs but i don't feel like they vary in different sounds. Any suggestions would be nice as well.

both!

samples are great, but I would avoid using anything too popular.
you can always morph the sample into something new...pitch it down / up, throw a bunch of effects on it, chop it up, reverse it etc.

making your own sounds is very important too. helps you learn sound design, and you can develop your own signature sounds. if you save them as patches or export the sounds you can eventually have a whole library of your own sounds to pick from. Noisia uses this approach (in a more complicated way that is lightyears beyond my comprehension) :)
