How do you craft the bassline in Drake's "Started From The Bottom?"

Just wondering what y'all think is the best way to craft this bassline. Particular VST to reccomend? It obviously has some portamento on it to create that slide effect, but I don't know what a good initial sound to start out with is. It's got some heavy sub-bass in it, but it's also very biting and present in the higher frequencies. What y'all think?
 
if you use FL studio its easy, just get an 808, paste some notes, then go in the corner of the piano roll and hit the triangle, then choose glide, and paste that note on where you want it to slide... i'm still trying to figure out how to replicate this in logic or reason tho.. it does portamento but its not as good as FL studio glide function
