My studio is in a warehouse
and there is an abundence of wood pallets
I was thinking of taking these pallets and stuffing them with
Owens Corning 703 insulation and then wrapping them in fabric
and fixing them to my walls
What do you think?
can this be done ?

Wooden Pallets
I can not post an image of a wood pallet
so you can see what im talking about
becuase the forum wont let me
but do a image search for them and then tell me
what you think
thanks

Bass Traps

......dont you think that'll be a little heavy to hang on the wall? If you end up doing this, make sure you take off as much wood as you can, due to weight and so it gets the most absorption that it can.

The plan that i read online for bass traps
had me buying 2x4s 1x6s 2x2 and covering it all up
with a piece of plywood
wood pallets will be much lighter
I think it will absorb no?
there hollow and insulation can be stuffed in them

im gonna take a picture of them later tonight
and perhaps post them up here
if the forum lets me

I'm thinking "no" on the pallets...

(A) You don't want solid sides.

(B) You certainly don't want solid sides.

(C) The sides are solid.

And yeah, they're probably rather heavy for hanging.

703 simply put in cloth is effective on its own. *Back* it with a frame (a'la GIK acoustics) and you're in better shape. But you don't want the sides to be solid - If you're going to frame it, frame it from the back. Leave the entire front and sides open.

haah i see you have to get rather creative with your posts...haha

A. There are no solid sides
B. There are no solid sides
C. I like free

I just pulled the pallets in here
and one they are light as ever
they are made of very light wood
So im not sure what you all are picturing
and there hollow
like crates
i was planing on sliding the 703 inside them and
it would act as a frame
the fact that your saying no sides
makes it even easier
i can just slide the 703 in an prop them up on the wall
I will take a picture of the pallets
and post them if the forum gods say its ok

Try it, and see what happens! If you don't, somebody else will and start making money off it, so be the first to do, it and make some cash off it.

Yes they are hollow with no sides
like the one pictured
I doubt im the first one to do this
and id rather try and make money off my studio
and music then get into the business of selling brokendown
old pallets made into make shift bass traps
anyone with real money
just goes and buys the latest most expensive things
for there studio
its us poor meek and humble lads
who have to get creative and use garbage

Thanks for the tips though
I think I am gonna try it and see what happens
Now

I'm not saying not to use them - I'm just saying that you could use the same wood and do it right.

i''m probably way off base but are you going to stack the pallets on top of each other and build like a room? if you have that many pallets then yeah try it, but instead of filling them us it as a seperator between the pallets so the wood won't touch them throw some of those moving blankets (not saying you have any)in front of them bcuz i really hope you weren't thinking of hanging them on the wall of a warehouse.
