turntable on top of monitors???

I just bought some new monitors that i should have monday nite .... right now bcuz of lack of space in my home lab, i have my speakers laying on their sides with my turntable sitting on top of them ...
i have been using an old bookshelf stereo so i didnt give a f*ck about the speakers .. now that i'm getting monitors i want to treat them bettter...
Will my setup hurt my monitors, turntable or the signal???

as long as there is no sound coming from the old speakers, you don't want a bass note to pop your need out of the groove.

My turntable was on my speaker once and this freak tipped the whole rig over. That sucked.
