sweet spot

I was reading about recording drums and they said there was a sweet spot in the room. I'm wondering about where that is. is it close to the center of the room?

is it the same for vocals?

I've been trying to do vocals close to where the treatment is, b/c my whole room isn't treated yet. which puts me in the corner.

should I go closer to the middle of the room? is there a sweet spot there somewhere?

The thing to do is grab a tom and a stick, then walk around the room banging on it. You'll hear it when you get to the right spot...set the kit up there. For vocals you'll be best off with your back to the corner singing out into the middle of the room most of the time. Experimentation is the key on most of this stuff, so leave plenty of time for it.
