    no such thing
I play piano, guitar, drums, and trombone. I'm a regular one man band. Ask me something about computers, 90% of the time I'll have the answer.

First thing you need to know: It's spelled monitor. (no big whoop, just thought you'd like to know)

Second, there really isn't a "hands down best" monitor out there. If there were, it would definately be something in the $20,000 a piece (or more) catagory.

What you should look for is a monitor that suits the music you produce and the area you,ll use them in.It,s no good having a pair of Mackie 824,s or similar in a 5ft by 5ft room or using a speaker with a 3 inch woofer and expect a massive bass response.

If your room is quite small go for a more reasonably sized monitor .If you want bass go for a larger woofer.

The best thing to do is find a shop where you can play some of your own productions and some commercially produced material that you know well through a variety of different monitors and let your ears be the judge.

Remember that you could be listening to your monitors for long periods in the studio so you may want to choose some that you find less fatigueing on your ears.

Monitor choice is a very personal thing and the style of music you produce may mean that you favour a tighter or fuller bass response than someone else.

Remember that amplifiers can colour the sound as wall so it may be better for some to only use active monitors with built in amplifiers.
