sound proof box...help....

hey newbie here...
nothing to do with production n such but it does have to do with construction / acoustics somewhat...
n e ways i'm wodering if someone could help me...i want to build a sound proof box for a really loud air compressor and was wondering if i could get some tips on how to go about doing this and also the materials required...the air compressor is pretty damn loud and annoying and n e thing to make it more quiet would be a really big help...

So, this box needs to be sound proof, but not air proof? This is no easy task, could I sugest earmuffs?
 
How big is this Compressor?

You should be able to reduce the noise considerably by building a box lined with foam or padding. Nothing too complex...just a rectangular box made of cheap wood and lined with whatever material you can get ur hands on...leaving a hole for any cables and tubes needed for operation of the comressor..
