Receiver/Amplifier question

I've got some Paradigm bookshelf monitors that I'm looking for a new receiver to push. Any suggestions on a good receiver for $300 or less? I will be running my mpc->laptop->audio interface to the receiver or amp. I've never used a standalone amplifier before...only 2-channel receivers. What would you suggest for studio purposes?

You're not going to find a receiver that's "sonically suitable" for $300.

Try looking for used Hafler amps (or even better, Bryston or Rotel high-current models if you can find someone who's dumping one).

Massive, I just need an amplifier and no pre-amp, correct? I could adjust the output volume on my audio interface thats running into the amp right instead of having to buy a pre-amp simply for volume purposes right?
