Power amps for studio monitors

What are some good brands that are cheap, low wattage (under 200 per channel for 8 ohms), and good sounding (of course!). I have been looking at the Carver PM series and some of the new alesis amps. I saw a crown 120 at a pawn shop the other day too.

Also, could i use a hifi amp for home audio instead? it seems likethat could work since they are meant to be sonically transparent.

the new alesis RA amps are surprinsingly good for the money, I expected the awful sound from the previous series but the new ones are good
