Plextor premium CD-RW ide or usb2

I've heard that plextor is the only way to go when burning audio.
The question is are there any downsides on using an external usb2 CD-RW. For now i don't need an external CD-RW, but in the future i might need.

Any advantages on IDE over usb2 ?

not to my knowledge other than the use of system resources is a lil more when using usb. but the systems today have so much ram that it barely even matters. lite-on make awesome burners as well.

Or yamaha, either way you pay through the nose for what should be standard features on any burner (****n consumer driven market).
