optimizing soundcard prefs with cubase 5 and 44- 3 places to input changes?

Anyone care to enlighten me as to where I input changes- int he asio driver folder in the cubase directory, in the delta m-audio control panel, and/or in cubases' settings? Is there one I leave alone? Thanks...
