What is that makes them more expensive then speakers? Are they really neccessary>

of course they do...they are supposed to represent true and accurate sound of whats represented in the music, and they are designed so with the best equipment....go find a decent proffesional studio monitor and lift it up....its going to be a heavy son of a biatch....5 times the weight of a home speaker 5 times its size probably....theres a reason for that.

home speakers and the like are designed to "trick" the sound coming out of them...they manipulate the audio to give them an enhanced sound wether that be more bass and high end or wider stereo field or whatever....they trick the sound to supposedly make the sound "better"

that answer ur question at all?

I guess it answers it, but is that true sound so much different then what you would hear say from some nice set of computer or home speakers? How much of the true sound is manipulated?

ummmmm.....YES!

You'd be amazed, trust me....on a good pair of monitors you can hear and pick up things you dont in your car stereo or ****ty home stereo speakers, or expensive good home speakers for that matter.

Just the way they are designed and the listening that each different type demands....studio monitors are designed for critical hearing, while home speakers are not.

just go to a shop that has quality monitor speakers and you should just be able to hear the difference
