Mackie SRM450's

Hey all, Just found this site and wanted to mention how impressed I am.

Here's my question. I play drums in a Cover Jam Band in NJ USA. I am currently looking to upgrade my sound system with studio and live sound equipment. I stumbled upon the Mackie SRM450's and they sound great. Is it possible to just buy one speaker and split RCA's from a CD Disc changer to get Left and Right from the player into one speaker? I know I can get Y connectors and actually have no problem connecting them, but will this damage the speakers? Unfortuanately we cannot afford 2 speakers at this time but I'd like to buy one of them....

Mono... or JBL's

That would work...

So would just plugging it in MONO instead of STEREO

Also, I own those Mackies... good active matrix thumpers....
You could probably get 2 JBL's (Non-Active) for about the same price.
