I am recording using my pc. I currently have a 2.0ghz Pentium 4 PC. 24/96 audiophile, mackie 1402vlz, Rode NT1000 mic.

I want to upgrade my soundcard to one that has more inputs (hopefully get better sound quality as well.)

...right now I'm leaning towards either the Delta 1010 or the 1820m.

My budget is about $500 for the soundcard.

Does anyone have any suggestions or opinions on either of the two soundcards?

Any info would help.

Id go for the EMU, it's got great preamps, also it has the dsp effects card, so you can have your favorite vst effects being used in realtime without your computer using any CPU.
I think it is the best soundcard out right now. I have mine on layaway at GC
you can get em for 320.00

get the EMU it has the same A/D converters as the Pro Tools System..it has Stereo outputs,No hardware mixer needed..and its cheaper...

the 1820 or the 1820m?

I checked out both online but the 1820M says it has the same a/d conversters as protools but does this mean that the 1820 doesn't?

As far as I remember the DSP only runs its own FX programs, you cant use vst's with it.

if you go with e-mu, you may want to get the emulator x which adds sampling and a couple of nice soundbanks, including the proteus2000 soundset
