Hi, i have a Roland JX 305 synth and a PC with a bunch of computer programmes. I am having problems hooking up my synth to the computer, i have tried putting the keyboard into the line in socket on my soundcard, i have also tried putting it through the mic socket but to no avail. I am using Vegas and Acid, i also have Reason, there is just no sound coming through. I also have a midi cable, what are the advantages of midi? and what are the benefits of using this with Reason, what is it capable of? Any help here would be great, the synth is sitting wasted at the moment. Thanks!

    Smile Missed a bit!

I also would like to hook up my turntables to the computer in order to sample records and to record sets for burning to CD. I have wavelab, i know this is capable of recors ing sets, but what about for sampling? Alos, the soundcard i am using is not great, it is an Aztech Audio card, could this be what is causing the problems with my synth?(previous post). Would i be best advised to get a better soundcard to help solve my problems, or could i get my set up sorted out for making music as it is and then upgrade my soundcard later?
    Thanks again for any help.
