help with connecting my fantom into Cubase SX??

..hey guys, my 1st post. i did a search for this incase its been answered a billion times but nothing came up..so sorry if it is a tired request.

basically, im trying to get my Roland-fantom to sequence within cubase SX. icant get any midi response. i have connected the midi out on my fantom, to the joystick port on pc etc. unlike the USB midi keyboard i used to use, which sx automatiacally recognises.

the manuals are also so confusing, so i dunno if theres something i should setup on both the fantom and SX to get the midi response. am i making sense?

Make sure the Fantom out is going into the midi in for your interface. Then select MPU 401 in, or something like that for your midi input.
 
Midi out of fantom to midi in of soundcard/midi interface and also midi in of fantom to midi out of soundcard/midi interface.

When you insert a midi track, make sure to select the correct output (your sound card/midi interface)
