I have no musical hardware except a mic and a preamp. But I am considering to invest in some musical machine. What would be the best thing for me. I am making hip hop music and rapping. Should i get a keyboard sam and akai sampler or buy an effect or sequencer. In other words which piece of hardware would be the most fun and most productive to use. What can i use the most to make music and rap.

another option could be a groovebox like the mc505. although roland's so called "technical support" makes me wonder if its worth buying any of their gear.

For a relative n00b, there is simply no better single piece to get (for rap/hip-hop) than the Emu MP-7 Command Station, IMHO. Add a small 4 ot 8 track digital-recorder, and you are good to go!
