External Sound Cards and Noisy Hardware?

If I use an external sound card do I still have to worry about hardware noise. Asides from installing a quality noise reducing fan am I basically on the safe side?

When recording is the noise being recorded by the sound card or by another part (ie Hard Drive). So even if the sound card (external) is the part that records the noise does that mean I have to isolate the external sound card from any other kind of noise interferance???

Thankx

Electrical noise will be minimized considerably. Other noise comes from the microphone and recording analog to analog on prosumer level gear will have some noise added to the signal.

You come up wit that yourself or is that a term I was supposed to know? LOL
