You answered your own question 'What is used to compress the audio'?....a compressor.
The other part of your question has been asked hundreds of times here, that's why we get pissed when ppl don't use the search function. You want to convert midi to audio. You need Widi to actually turn midi to audio or use a midi file with a s/card that has a default soundset which will then play your file. But I believe what you meant was play a midi file and save the audio then treat the audio. So, lay down your beat first , then record it in your computer , import it as a file in Cool Edit, go to the tools section and use the compressor. If you need help on the compressor , holla back.
The language ting is between us and when you've been here more than a heartbeat, you'll understand, so don't take it personal.
    Anywaysa, hope that helps.
