"California Love" Vocal FX?

I'm looking for an effect that will render a similar sound as the robotic-sounding vocal sung on 2Pac's California Love. Can anyone steer me in the right direction as far as names are concerned?
 
talk box and a synth was what roger troutman used....synthesizer that runs to a guitar stomp box looking device which has a long plastic tube that you talk through.... combine that with the synth sound and voila! .... ...........also see vocoder.....you might be able to pull it off with an antares autotune or something simlar.....good luck

Reason 2.5 has a vocoder (only works on saved wavs) Cubase SX has a vocoder that can be palyed in real time.
I cant think of any free vocoder but I'm sure you can get them.... Maybe synthedit has a vocoder module somewhere....Also the Zoomtrack effects unit has one and its cheap maybe €80 or so....
 
Maxim Digital Audio offers a free vocoder. Google for it.
