I got an mpc 2000 xl on the way. i want to start producing beats and eventually try to sell them. I've dj'ed for years and have a tons of vinyl. I have nothing but time to practice and play, so what else to I need to start?

For a start a mpc some vinyl and a ton of time is a great start. Later you may want to look into getting a synth like the motif, triton, or fantom s or one of their rack counter parts to take your beats to the next level.
