I am running an Alesis USB mixer into Adobe Audition. When I go to sample from my record player which is run through Line one, I can hear it in my monitors loud and clear,(distorted though) but is very faint when I play it back in edit view of Adobe. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong and could please help out?

Just a guess, as I don't work with turntables, but could it be due to a lack of a phono-preamp? Your direct monitoring seems to be picking it up ok, but the signal is too weak for the DAW/recording software?
